Man Found Guilty In 2022 West Beverly Robbery

CHICAGO — A man accused of holding up a West Beverly resident in August 2022 was convicted Friday in a bench trial.

Michael Brewer, 40, was on trial for armed robbery and aggravated unlawful restraint before Cook County Judge Alfredo Maldonado at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.

On Aug. 21, 2022, Brewer held a victim at gunpoint in his driveway. A habitual gun offender, Michael Brew was previously convicted of aggravated vehicular hijacked and sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was paroled in 2020 after serving less than half his sentence, Ald. Matt O’Shea told 19th Ward residents in email.

Brewer will remain in custody at Cook County Jail until his sentencing next month.
