CHICAGO — Come fill up your tank at Shell Gas Station, 2632 W. 111th St. (formerly Kean Gas Station), starting on Monday, Feb. 17 through Friday, Feb. 21, and 15 cents for every gallon pumped will be donated to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation's Get Behind the Vest initiative.
Shell has generously offered to donate five cents for every gallon of gas pumped to this important cause. Two generous donors, Beverly Bank & Trust and AthleteX Physical Therapy, have agreed to match the donation to support this worthy cause.

Chicago police officers are provided a new bulletproof vest when they graduate from the academy. Over time, these vests breakdown and need to be replaced. Through the Get Behind the Vest Campaign, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation purchases new bulletproof vests to help protect the brave men and women of the Chicago Police Department.
On Friday Feb. 21, Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) will be the celebrity gas attendant. Matt will be spiffing up your car windows and pumping gas from 1 to 3 p.m.

Additionally, O'Shea will once again join forces with WGN-AM Radio’s Home Sweet Home Chicago with David Hochberg, to host a “Vest-A-Thon” on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to p.m. on WGN-AM/720. To donate, please visit CPD Vest or call 872-262-8378 (VEST) on the day of the broadcast.
Both events are precursors to the “Get Behind The Vest” pancake breakfast Sunday, Feb. 23. Stop by for pancakes from 8 a.m. to noon at St. John Fisher School, 10200 S. Washtenaw Ave. In the past decade, the pancake breakfast has raised over $600,000 to support the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation’s vest mission. The cost is $5 per person or $25 for families for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast.
