Smith Village Pet Parade And Competition Marches Friday
Doesn't matter if it's a dog, cat, bird or snake, a pet is a pet in the 19th annual Smith Village Pet Parade, Friday, July 11.

Pets will strut their stuff at the 19th annual Smith Village Pet Parade this Friday at July 11 takes place at 10:30 a.m., at Smith Village, 2320 West 113th Place in Chicago. There is no entry fee, but Smith Village residents and off-campus neighbors do need to reserve a place at the event. For a registration form, contact Bridget Murphy at bmurphy@smithseniorliving.org or 773-474-7316. Forms can also be picked up at Smith Village’s reception desk.
This popular parade and competition has become a 19th Ward summer staple. It strengthens bonds between Smith Village and its surrounding community. It also serves as a reminder of the physical and mental health benefits that accrue to anyone, and especially seniors, in caring for an animal.
Most entrants are dogs and cats, but a pet’s a pet, and other species are welcome to participate.

As each pet and its owner walk the runway, announcers will share fun facts about each animal. Prizes are awarded to the top three pets as judged by audience applause. Costumes are not required, but pets who arrive suitably attired for the red carpet always shift the Pet Parade into Cuteness Overload.
