Southsiders For Peace Illinois Candidates Forum Reset For Friday

The Southsiders for Peace candidates forum for Illinois primary candidates has been reset for Friday, Jan. 26, at Beverly Unitarian Church.

CHICAGO — The rescheduled Southsiders for Peace forum for candidates running in the upcoming Illinois Primary is back on for Friday, Jan. 26. The forum runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at Beverly Unitarian Church (The Castle), 10244 S. Longwood Drive, Chicago.

Incumbent Sean Casten is being challenged in the 6th Congressional District by Mahnoor Ahmad and Charles Hughes in the Illinois Democratic Primary on March 19. State Rep. Kelly Burke is not running for reelection in the 36th District. Sonia Khalil and Rick Ryan are running for this seat.
The forum will give the residents the chance to meet and question the candidates in contested districts in the area. Each candidate will give a short presentation followed by Q&A from the audience.

Hughes was redistricted out of IL-06 and currently resides in IL-04. He has purchased property within the 6th Congressional District and says he will relocate there if he wins.

Candidates for the 6th Congressional District have been invited; Casten, Ahmad and Hughes have accepted. Candidates for the open seat in the 36th District in Illinois House have been invited; Sonia Khalil has accepted, Rick Ryan has not.
