Downers Grove Business Featured on Fox Reality Show 'Does Someone Have to Go?'

The family behind the credit card processing company Velocity Merchant Services will be featured when the show premieres Thursday, May 23.

Velocity Merchant Services, a credit card processing company in Downers Grove, will be featured this month on the new Fox reality television show "Does Someone Have to Go?"

The six-episode series follows several business owners as they hand over the reins of their companies to their employees, giving them the chance to make tough decisions and changes in the workplace.

Velocity Merchant Services will be featured in the first two episodes of "Does Someone Have to Go?," which premieres at 8 p.m. (CST) Thursday, May 23, on Fox.

According to a Fox news release, the family behind Velocity will leave the company in the hands of their employees—including the owner's cousins and mother—who quickly learn that solving personnel issues "isn't as easy as it looks."

"Forced to make difficult decisions and fix the company’s problems, they also realize that blood may not be thicker than water," the release states.

Founded in 1998, Velocity Merchant Services offers merchant services to individuals and organizations that complete credit and debit card transactions. It also helps businesses benefit from additional services, such as a business cash advance program, gift card incentives, loyalty cards and website development.

Velocity has more than 60 employees, and is headquartered at 3051 Oak Grove Road.

In August 2012, the business was listed among Inc. magazine's top 5,000 fastest growing U.S. companies.
