2 Elgin Gang Members Charged After Gun Pointed At Victim: Police
Officials said neither man has a Firearm Owner's Identification Card or a Concealed Carry License.
ELGIN, IL — Two street gang members in Elgin face several charges including possession of a firearm after Elgin police and Kane County prosecutors reported the pair drove past a person walking near the 600 block of Villa Street Feb. 10, and pointed a loaded gun at them, the Kane County State's Attorney's Office said in a release. Prosecutors and police reported Freddy Garcia, 24, of the 600 block of Packard Drive, Elgin, and Antony A. Oliva, 22, of the 1800 block of Riverside Avenue, St. Charles, spotted the victim walking in the parking lot of a nearby business around 9:30 p.m. Oliva drove himself and passenger Garcia past the victim, during which Garcia pointed a loaded handgun at the person, before Oliva circled the business and Garcia pointed the gun at the victim a second time, officials said.
The state's attorney's office said neither Garcia nor Oliva has a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card or a Concealed Carry License.
According to a release, Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon charged Garcia with felony charges of possession of a firearm by a street gang member, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and misdemeanor aggravated assault. His bond was set by a Kane County judge at $250,000 with 10 percent to apply, the release said.

McMahon charged Oliva with the same offenses as Garcia, in addition to DUI, a release said, adding his bond was set at $200,000 with 10 percent to apply.
Officials said both remain in custody at the Kane County Jail, with Garcia's next court appearance scheduled for 9 a.m., March 1 and Oliva's scheduled for 9 a.m., March 7.
