Carpentersville Man Sentenced For Sexual Assault Of Child He Knew

According to evidence presented by the Kane Co. Assistant State's Attorneys Office, the sexual assault occurred between April and June 2014.

CARPENTERSVILLE, IL — A Carpentersville man was sentenced Friday by Circuit Judge Donald M. Tegeler to 9.5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections nearly three months after the man was convicted off felony predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, according to a release from the Office of the Kane County State's Attorney. Michael Martinez, 30, of the 100 block of Green Street, is accused of sexually assaulting a child he knew between April 2014 and June 2014, according to evidence presented by Kane County Assistant State's Attorneys Lori Schmidt and Andrew Leuchtmann Friday, the release stated. Officials added that at that time, the victim was under 13 years old.

Martinez was convicted by Judge Tegeler on Dec. 17, 2018, according to officials.

In addition to the prison term, Martinez must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act, according to the state's attorneys office.
