Fire Causes Over $150,000 Worth Of Damage At Elgin Home
Officials said the cause of the Lower Wellington Ave. house fire is under investigation by the Elgin Fire Dept. Fire Investigation Team.
ELGIN, IL — Members of the Elgin Fire Department said they responded to the 600 block of Lower Wellington just after 5 a.m. Friday for a report of a possible structure fire, the department said. According to a release from the Elgin Fire Department, responding departments found a one story home with a walk out basement. The release said the basement, part of the first floor and the back of the home were on fire.
According to a release, an upgrade to a MABAS Box Alarm was used to cover the Elgin Fire Stations. The fire was brought under control in 40 minutes, as several hose and lines and one tower ladder stream were used to do so, a release said.
The home suffered extensive damage and minor damage to a detached garage, all initially estimated to be in excess of $150,000, officials reported.

According to the department, no one was home at the time of the fire and no one, including fire department members, were injured.
The department said the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Elgin Fire Department Fire Investigation Team.
