Sixth Offender Sentenced In 2016 Elgin Kidnapping
The Kane County State's Attorney's Office announced Feb. 22 a female offender has been sentenced in the Feb. 2016 Elgin kidnapping.

ELGIN, IL — The Kane County State's Attorney's Office announced Friday a sixth offender has been convicted in a 2016 kidnapping scheme in Elgin. According to a release, Associate Judge Kathryn D. Karayannis sentenced 22-year-old Megan A. Lino, of Carpentersville, Friday to prison for 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. On Feb. 8, Lino pleaded guilty to the offense of home invasion, the Kane County State's Attorney's Office said.
According to a release, Lino, and co-defendants, 21-year-old Luis Palomar, of Lake in the Hills, 23-year-old Kassandra Delgado, of Elgin, and 23-year-old Ruby Gomez, Elgin, kidnapped the victim from an Elgin residence on Feb. 26, 2016, and are accused of beating her, bringing her to 27-year-old Gino Moraca’s Elgin apartment, and continuing to beat her, burn her with lit cigarettes, and hold her against her will.
The state's attorney's office said Palomar, Delgado, Gomez, and Moraca pleaded guilty in the case in 2018 and were also sentenced to prison, in addition to a sixth offender who previously pleaded guilty in the case in juvenile court.

The case was prosecuted by Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Kelly M. Orland and Daniel Weiler, according to a release.
