Middle School Youth Tour Village Hall on Student Gov't Day
Frankfort's Village Hall had a much younger crowd working the administration on Student Government Day.
Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland and Village administrators gave students from Hickory Creek Middle School a taste of government operations April 27, Student Government Day.
A staff of youthful government administrators showed up at 8:30 a.m. at the Village Administrative Offices, 432 W. Nebraska St., for a briefing on the operations of municipal government by Mayor Jim Holland and Village Administrator Jerry Ducay.
Next they were off to the Frankfort Fire Protection District , 333 W. Nebraska St., where they got the low-down on emergency response work by Asst. Chief Larry Rauch.

Police Chief John Burica gave them an overview of his office and the administrative tasks he performs at the Frankfort Police Department, 20602 Lincoln Way Lane. Then is a stop nextdoor at the regional waste water treatment plant, where Darrin Yount.
After lunch at Aurelio's Pizza, 310 W. Lincoln Highway, the students went to Prairie Park on White Street where Asst. Village Administrator Rob Piscia filled them in on conservation issues.

Later, , gave the kids a tour of the Utilities/Park facilities, 524 Center Road.
And finally, the students took part in a mock village board meeting prior to the regular meeting. They took their seats in the board room and reviewed the matters put before them.
“Meeting with the future leaders of our community is always a pleasure for our entire Village Board and staff members. The questions asked are well thought out, and their enthusiasm to learn more about Village government and its activities was evident throughout the day,” commented the mayor.
