13 Cars Burglarized In Geneva's Fisher Farms Subdivision: Police

GENEVA, IL — Thirteen cars, most in Geneva's Fisher Farms subdivision, were burglarized Oct. 10, police reported Thursday.

The burglaries occurred at the following locations:

• Four on Nelson Drive (400 and 500 blocks)
• Three on Cannon Drive (400 and 600 blocks)
• Two on Lorraine Circle (2500 and 2600 blocks)
• Two on Fieldstone Drive (3100 and 3200 blocks)
• One on Hillcrest Road (3200 block)
• One on Larsdotter Lane (200 block)

According to a news release from Geneva police, deputies from the Kane County Sheriff's Office responded to a suspicious man near their headquarters on Route 38 in unincorporated Kane County and arrested him on unrelated charges. But during their interaction, detectives discovered stolen items later identified as proceeds from the car burglaries that occurred in the early morning hours Oct. 10.

Officials did not identify the man or say if he was responsible for the burglaries. The incidents remain under investigation by both agencies. Anyone with information should call the Geneva Police Department at 630-232-4736.

Police reminded residents to lock their cars and remove any valuables, including garage door openers and keys. Officials also encouraged locals to make sure their garage door is closed, windows are secured and access doors to the garage and house are locked.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious activities should report it right away to the Geneva Police Department by calling 911, officials said, as "police have a better chance of solving crimes when information from residents is relayed promptly."
