GENEVA, IL — Two people died after a "domestic incident" Dec. 26 in the 2700 block of Emma's Way, Geneva police said.

Geneva police responded at 8 p.m. Thursday for a "fatal domestic violence 911 call." Inside the residence, they found a teen and a woman stabbed to death, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

The state's attorney's office identified the woman as 47-year-old Christina Chavira and referred to the other victim as 13-year-old "D.C." Both were pronounced dead at area hospitals, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the boy as Damien Chavira and listed his cause of death as a homicide from multiple sharp force injuries. He was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m. Dec. 27.

After the Kane County Coroner's Office was called to the hospital to assist in the investigation of Christina Chavira's death, her body was taken to the Kane County morgue, where an autopsy was performed on Dec. 27. Preliminary findings indicated the cause of death to be consistent with multiple stab wounds. Toxicology samples were sent to a forensic lab for further analysis, officials said.

The suspect in the incident is 50-year-old Alejandro Cota, Maduzia said. He was charged with four counts of first-degree murder, two for intent to cause death or great bodily harm and two for probability of death, Deputy Chief Matthew Dean told Patch.

Cota is detained pending his first appearance in court, where the state's attorney's office plans to file a petition to deny pretrial release, police said.

The man was originally scheduled to appear in court Sunday afternoon, but his detention hearing was postponed after Assistant Kane County Public Defender Luz Marciel Sanchez Tio sought a delay and requested the judge be substituted, according to a report from the Daily Herald. A written motion indicated Cota believed the original judge would be "prejudiced against him."

Cota's next court date is set for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 9 for a detention hearing.
