Attempted Murder In DeKalb: Victim Stabbed In Abdomen, Police Say

A vehicle stopped by police contained blood and several people associated with the stabbing, authorities said.

DEKALB, IL — A man is charged with attempted murder after stabbing a person during a fight in downtown DeKalb, according to police.

Officers responded Friday to the 100 block of South 1st Street and found a male victim bleeding with an abdomenal laceration, police said, adding Ezequiel Hernandez, 28, of Kingston, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and it was determined he needed surgery, according to police.

A witness reported the victim and several others were involved in a physical altercation, which led to the stabbing, and that the offender fled in a red vehicle, police said, adding officers stopped the vehicle a few blocks from the scene. Inside the vehicle they found suspected blood and several people associated with the stabbing, according to police, who arrested Hernandez.
