GENEVA, IL — A Chicago man accused of sexually assaulting and impregnating a woman with an intellectual disability pleaded guilty Tuesday, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Isaiah Fields, 24, could be sentenced to six to 30 years of non-probational imprisonment at the Illinois Department of Corrections for the aggravated criminal sexual assault charge.

In court, Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Rodgers said Fields sexually assaulted the victim, who he knew had a "severe or profound intellectual disability and was unable to give consent," between Aug. 1, 2023, and Sept. 5, 2023. The woman was a resident of Marklund Home in unincorporated Geneva, a nursing home for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

According to a report from the Daily Herald, the 42-year-old victim, who has lived at Marklund Home for 20 years, has Rett syndrome, a neurological disorder that has caused her not to be able to read, write or talk.

In April 2024, the victim discovered she was pregnant and nearly full term, and she later gave birth, according to prosecutors. During the Kane County Sheriff's Office investigation, a team secured multiple buccal swab DNA tests from current and previous male employees, and after Fields' DNA test came back positive, the sheriff secured a sealed order for his arrest.

Fields also pleaded guilty in a separate case about an incident on Sept. 27, 2023, where he was accused of committing "an act of sexual conduct with a victim whom he knew was unable to consent at the time." He will serve one year in prison as a result of the plea deal, officials said.

The one-year sentence will run concurrently with the sentence Judge John Barsanti will give Fields in March. Fields will also be required to register for life as a sexual offender.

"Mr. Fields preyed on vulnerable individuals who were unable to defend themselves, and his actions are unconscionable," State's Attorney Jamie Mosser said in a statement. "With today's guilty pleas, he is being held accountable for the profound harm he caused."

Fields' is due to appear March 14 at the Kane County Judicial Center for sentencing. He remains in custody at the Kane County jail.
