Downtown Geneva Business Damaged In Blaze: City
No injuries were reported in the Monday morning fire.
GENEVA, IL — A business in Geneva's downtown district was damaged by a blaze Monday morning, city officials said.
No injuries were reported in the fire that happened around 6:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Hamilton Street, according to a news release. Officials did not say which business was affected.
The Geneva Fire Department was dispatched to the two-story former residence for a report of smoke inside the building. Firefighters found smoke showing from the second floor and upgraded the alarm to request additional resources, including crews from St. Charles, Batavia, Elburn and West Chicago.

Firefighters launched an interior fire attack, bringing the flames under control in about 20 minutes.
Investigators determined the preliminary origin of the fire to be in the front interior of the business, but the cause remains under investigation. The inside of the building saw extensive smoke and heat damage, officials said.

The Fermilab and North Aurora fire departments filled in the Geneva stations and stood by to respond to additional calls from the community while Geneva firefighters fought the flames downtown.
