Fire Breaks Out At Geneva Restaurant, Brewery: GFD
A fire started in a piece of kitchen equipment inside the basement of the restaurant on State Street in downtown Geneva, officials said.

GENEVA, IL — A fire broke out Wednesday at Stockholm’s Restaurant and Brewery in downtown Geneva, officials said.
The Geneva Fire Department determined the fire started in the basement kitchen, but the cause remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
The restaurant will be closed until further notice as the damage was "rather extensive," staff said in a Facebook post.

"We will be working hard to reopen as soon as possible so we can get back to doing what we love!" the post reads.
Niche Restaurant from around the corner notified Stockholm's staff of smoke showing from the exhaust hood, according to the post. Geneva firefighters were dispatched at 9:59 p.m. to the two-story building at 306 W. State St. after receiving a report of a fire in a piece of kitchen equipment inside the basement. As crews were on their way, more callers reported smoke billowing from the second floor and roof, according to a Geneva Fire Department news release.

Firefighters initiated an interior attack and brought the blaze under control in less than 30 minutes. The restaurant's kitchen and the areas directly above sustained fire, heat, smoke and water damage.
Stockholm's staff took shelter at Nobel House across the street to "regroup and have a beverage while the Fire Department was at work," staff said on Facebook.
Crews from St. Charles, Batavia, Elburn and West Chicago assisted Geneva at the scene. The Geneva Police Department, Geneva Public Works Department Electric Division and Geneva Emergency Management Agency also assisted.
The Fermilab Fire Department filled in Geneva Station No. 1 and stood by to respond to other calls in the community.
