Gas Leak Was Accidentally Caused, Prompts Road Closure: City
Construction crews working in the area Friday accidentally struck a natural gas line, city officials said.
GENEVA, IL — Construction crews accidentally struck a natural gas line Friday morning, prompting a road closure in Geneva, city officials said.
The Geneva police and fire departments responded around 10 a.m. to East Side Drive after the leak was reported. As a precaution, East Side Drive was closed to traffic from Dodson Street to Woodward Avenue until around 11 a.m.
Nicor Gas was notified of the incident, and a crew arrived at the scene at about 11 a.m., officials said in an update at 11:13 a.m.

Crews shut off the natural gas, and officials said the repair project may continue throughout the afternoon.
