GENEVA, IL — AT&T is scheduled to begin a fiber cable installation project in mid-December in the northern section of Geneva's Fisher Farms subdivision, officials said Tuesday.

AT&T's contractor, PirTano, will work within existing public utility easements and the city's right-of-ways for construction, as authorized in the company's agreement with the State of Illinois, Geneva officials said.

These streets, and potentially others, will be affected by the project:

Crews will not need to enter any homes during construction, but residents will hear noise as the team bores into the ground. To help prevent any damage, city officials said residents should flag any electric fences and sprinklers and relocate any plants or bushes within the installation footprint.

PirTano's part of the project is expected to be completed in late February 2026, weather permitting. AT&T crews will then pull fiber cables through the conduits, which city officials anticipate will continue through July.

After the fiber installation is finished, PirTano will restore the landscape. The contractor will not reimburse residents who choose to handle their own restoration, officials said.
