Kane County Sheriff Launches St. Patrick's Day Enforcement Campaign
Deputies will participate in a statewide effort to "keep roads safe during one of the most celebrated drinking holidays of the year."
KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Sheriff's Office is launching an enforcement campaign targeting impaired and dangerous driving ahead of St. Patrick's Day.
From March 7-18, deputies will participate in the statewide to "remind motorists of the dangers of impaired driving and to help keep our streets safe." St. Patrick's Day falls on Monday, March 17.
The sheriff's office is joining the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police and local law enforcement agencies to conduct roadside safety checks, seat belt enforcement zones and saturation patrols.

The campaign will also emphasize seat belt enforcement, especially at night when seat belt usage rates are the lowest, officials said. Plus, speeding, distracted driving and all traffic laws will be strictly enforced.

- Drunk or high, it doesn't matter. It is never okay to drive impaired. Designate a sober driver or plan to use public transportation or a ride service to get home safely.
- If you see an impaired driver on the road, contact law enforcement.
- Have a friend who is about to drive impaired? Take the keys away and plan to get your friend home safely.
- Always buckle up.
