Kane County Sheriff Releases Super Bowl Campaign Results

The sheriff's office conducted the enforcement to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure people follow all traffic laws.

KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Sheriff's Office netted 47 citations and one driving under the influence arrest during the Super Bowl weekend, officials announced Monday.

The office conducted a "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" enforcement from Feb. 7 through the early morning hours of Feb. 10 to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure people follow all traffic laws.

Here's a look at the breakdown of citations issued:

  • 14 speeding
  • 13 distracted driving or use of electronic device
  • 4 seat belt violations
  • 4 driving without a license
  • 12 other (driving with no insurance, disobeying traffic sign, windshield obstruction, following too closely, no turn signal, and transporting alcohol)

The statewide enforcement effort was administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
