Trench Rescue Training Planned By Geneva Firefighters

The training will take place on a city-owned parcel of land on Geneva's west side.

GENEVA, IL — A vacant field on Geneva's west side will be taken over by firefighters participating in a trench rescue training exercise Friday, officials said.

The Geneva Fire Department and Kane County Technical Rescue Team will participate in the training at 64 Peck Road, a city-owned parcel of land. At 9 a.m., crews from the Geneva Public Works Department will begin digging a trench just north of Heartland Drive.

Firefighters will run through several stimulated evolutions to hone their techniques for deep trench rescues, according to a news release. A drone will also be used during the exercise.
