Domestic Battery, Theft, Carjacking: Glenview Police Blotter
The Glenview Police Department made three arrests and handled several criminal complaints involving various offenses in the past week.

GLENVIEW, IL — The Glenview Police Department made a series of arrests and handled several criminal complaints involving various charges and incidents.
Local residents are reminded that the filing of criminal charges does not equate to a guilty finding. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Stephen M. Gorka, 42, Glenview was arrested at 3:42 p.m. on Dec. 18 and charged with domestic battery stemming from an Oct. 10 incident on Crestwood Drive. He was held pending a conditions hearing.
Ahmed Hamad, 25, Chicago, was arrested at 7:43 p.m. on Dec. 18 and charged with theft stemming from an incident in the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released and given a court date.

Abdel Abas, 23, Worth, was arrested at 7:43 p.m. on Oct. 18 and charged with battery after an investigation into an incident in the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released and given a court date.
INCIDENTS
RETAIL THEFT
A complainant in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported that a known offender stole food and grocery items from the business at 4:04 p.m. on Dec. 19, and left in a vehicle.
An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 23 that several suspects were seen running from the store carrying 10 winter coats. The suspects then fled in a white Ford Escape.
VEHICULAR HIJACKING
Police responded to the Costco gas station at 2930 Patriot Boulevard at 11:49 a.m. on Dec. 20 for the report of a carjacking. Police said the owner of a Mercedes-Benz sedan was pumping gas when a man wearing all black clothing and a blue ski mask got into the driver’s side and began to pull away. Police said that the owner of the vehicle tried to enter the vehicle on the passenger side but was unable to get into the car and was injured when they fell. The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment and the car was last seen heading east on I-94 at a high rate of speed.
THEFT
Employees of a business in the 2800 block of Old Willow Road reported that a woman entered the club at 3:26 p.m. on Dec. 21 and removed three coats from the business’s lost and found rack and left the store and fled in a black minivan.
A resident in the 1000 block of High Street in Aurora reported at 10:10 a.m. on Dec. 22 that an unknown person stole multiple panels from a chain link fence from a job site in the 100 block of Lincoln Street.
A resident in the 1700 block of East Lake Avenue reported at 12:17 p.m. on Dec. 22 that multiple pieces of jewelry had been stolen.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 600 block of Waukegan Road reported at 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 22 that an unknown person had made an unauthorized cash withdrawal from their bank account on Dec. 21.
VEHICLE THEFT
A resident in the 400 block of Washington Street told police that sometime in the past 3-4 months, their vehicle was stolen from their driveway. The vehicle was stopped by the Oklahoma State Police at 3:43 p.m. on Dec. 21 with Texas plates.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
Officers responded to the 700 block of Redwood Lane at 5:31 p.m. on Dec. 31 when an alarm on the back door of the home sounded. The burglar was not able to gain access to the house and nothing was stolen or disturbed.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 1000 block of Golfview Drive reported that someone had broken a bedroom window at the home and entered at around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 21. Police said that the burglar grabbed personal items from the home and left.
A resident in the 1400 block of Huntington Drive contacted police at 7:57 p.m. on Dec. 21 and broke into the home using brute force. Police said that several rooms were ransacked and that jewelry and other items were reported missing.
FORGERY
A complainant in the 600 block of Waukegan Road reported at 7:46 a.m. on Dec. 22 that several checks from their bank account were made out to an unknown person without their consent.
BURGLARY TO A VEHICLE
A resident in the 600 block of Glenshire Road reported at 10:53 a.m. on Dec. 22 that an unknown suspect entered their vehicle at a business in the 1500 block of East Lake Avenue on Dec. 19 and removed several items.
A resident in the 3700 block of Knollwood Lane reported at 8:41 a.m. on Dec. 23 that someone had stolen a backpack from their vehicle. The backpack was found nearby with only a binder notebook missing.
TRESPASSING
An employee at a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 6:14 p.m. on Dec. 22 that a woman was loitering in front of the business asking people for rides. A trespass warning was issued, and the woman was given a ride home by police.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A local resident reported at 9:50 a.m. on Dec. 23 that an unknown person had removed a stop sign at that fireworks had been set off at the basketball courts at Cole Park at 11 p.m. on Dec. 22. No permanent damage was reported.
