Prairie Crossing Ends Farmers Market
The farmers market at Station Square will no longer be offered, but take heart, Prairie Crossing farmers will sell their goodies at the Libertyville Farmers Market beginning June 20.

To expand their reach into neighboring communities, the Prairie Crossing Learning Farm will no longer have a farmers market at Station Square, but Prairie Farm Corps will be selling organic veggies at the Libertyville Farmers Market.
"Although this is a difficult decision, the farmers market had become unsustainable for the Learning Farm to operate," stated the organization in its monthly newsletter.
Prairie Crossing Farmers Market, which began in 1996, has experienced a significant decline in sales over the years. Being small and independent, the market reported it was unable to offer enough varieties of produce to attract new customers or provide different vegetables to supplement other customers' CSA memberships and home gardens.

The market was also unable to attract or sustain many outside vendors due to the size of our customer base and the proliferation of other markets.
Fans of the Prairie Crossing market can take heart that farmers will be selling certified organic vegetables at the Libertyville market, which runs Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 20 through Oct. 17.
