Joliet Man Menaces Gas Station Workers, Threatens to Kill Cops: Police

The Joliet man was also throwing around racial slurs, police said.

A loudmouthed Joliet man menaced workers at an Essington Road gas station, police said, then threatened to kill the cops when they showed up to take him away.

In the midst of his Monday night rampage, 34-year-old Justin Colnar also allegedly disparaged police officers with racial slurs and tried to kick out a squad car window.

Officers were sent to the Thornton’s station at the corner of Essington and Theodore Street about 8:45 p.m. to investigate a complaint of Colnar yelling and screaming and threatening people.

That was exactly what Colnar was doing when the officers arrived, police said, and he was taken into custody. That was when Colnar allegedly tried to kick out the window. Colnar was then shackled at the ankles, but that didn’t stop him from threatening to kill the officers and calling them racially offensive names, police said.

Colnar was taken to the Will County jail.
