A Plainfield man stabbed his wife to death before running into traffic to take his own life.

The police released the name of the man and woman killed in Tuesday night’s murder-suicide.
Craig Cunningham, 46, stabbed his wife, 47-year-old Susan Cunningham, in their Prairie Grove Court home. He then ran into Interstate 55 traffic and was hit by a tractor-trailer and a passenger car.
Susan Cunningham taught physical education and health at Plainfield Central High School from 2002 to 2006 before moving on to Plainfield North. She had been on medical leave this whole school year, said district spokesman Tom Hernandez.
