Update: Plainfield Man Killed Walking Into Traffic Tuesday After Woman's Murder
The man was hit by a car on Interstate 55 near Route 126 following the murder of a woman in Plainfield, a source said.

A Plainfield man was suspected of killing a woman and then walking into traffic on Interstate 55 to take his own life.
Plainfield police conducting a welfare check shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Prairie Grove Court found a woman with multiple stab wounds.
The 47-year-old woman was unresponsive and not breathing. She was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora where she was later pronounced dead.

Just minutes after the woman’s body was found, a 46-year-old man walked into the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 near Route 126. He was struck by a a tractor-trailer and a passenger car, police said.
The man was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Plainfield police said they would identify the couple later today.
The slain woman was a teacher at Plainfield North High School, said district spokesman Tom Hernandez.
