West Side Stickups: Gas Station & 7-Eleven Robbed Just Hours Apart

Masked bandits hit the two businesses early Sunday morning.

JOLIET, IL — Masked bandits held up a gas station and a 7-Eleven in the course of two hours early Sunday morning, police said.

A band of robbers first hit the Circle K on Route 59 near Caton Farm Road about 1 a.m. One masked man in a hooded sweatshirt walked into the service station and in short order was followed inside by three more, police said. The first man produced a handgun and demanded the money from the cash register. The four men absconded with $130.

Then, about 3 a.m., a masked man walked into the 7-Eleven on Essington Road near Caton Farm Road. He was followed by four more masked men.

Once again, the first man produced a handgun and demanded the money from the cash register.

This time, the crooks only got $40 before they fled.
