$2M Bail Set For Palatine Man Accused Of Squeezing Twin Babies
The man told police and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services he "feels responsible for the rib fractures," reports said.
PALATINE, IL — A Palatine man accused of physically abusing twin infants was ordered held on $2 million bail Thursday, facing charges of felony aggravated battery to a child. According to the Daily Herald, 41-year-old Kevin Paprocki, told police Monday he might have "overreacted and squeezed them too tightly in an attempt to get them to calm down" when he got frustrated, according to Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Jennifer Gates.
The 3-month-olds' mother saw a curve on one infant's leg, and said the baby cried "inconsolably" on Dec. 23, Gates said, adding that a Dec. 30 checkup with the baby's doctor showed bleeding in the eye and a tibia fracture. Gates added that the baby underwent a full body skeletal survey last week, which revealed rib fractures with some healing, according to the news report.
The other baby was examined and a healing skull fracture, eye hemorrhage, thigh bone and rib fractures were found.
