Man Accused Of Displaying Handgun During Verbal Dispute: Palatine PD

A 30-year-old Palatine resident was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the October incident.

PALATINE, IL — An arrest has been made in an October incident in which a Palatine man is accused of displaying a handgun during a verbal dispute. Hilario Sanchez, 30, of the 1300 block of Baldwin Court, was arrested last Thursday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Sanchez was released following his arrest and is due back in court on Jan. 8, 2026.

At around 1 p.m. Oct. 24, Palatine police responded to the 300 block of S. Rohlwing Road for a report of a man displaying a handgun during a verbal dispute. A victim told police Sanchez had confronted him, and during the argument, briefly exposed a handgun in his pocket and threatened the victim. The complainant said Sanchez then fled the area in a black Kia SUV. No injuries were reported, and the victim and Sanchez were known to each other.

Officers were unable to locate Sanchez immediately following the incident, but were eventually able to issue an arrest warrant for him. He was taken into custody on Dec. 4 by Elgin police before being moved to the Palatine Police Department.
