Columbus Day 2017: What's Open And Closed In Palatine?
Find out how Monday's federal holiday will affect village agencies, institutions and services.

PALATINE, IL — Observed on the second Monday of October, Columbus Day is a federal holiday can be a bit confusing when it comes to what's open and what's closed on that day. Adding to the confusion is that many people aren't off work for the holiday, and it can leave them wondering if other places around the village will be in the same situation.
With that in mind, Patch has put together a list on the Columbus Day status of some of the prominent institutions and services in Palatine.
This year, the holiday also will have a few special events in the area for people to check out. Chicago's Columbus Day Parade will celebrate its 65th anniversary, starting at 1 p.m. Later in the afternoon, the Chicago Cubs will play host to Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Washington Nationals, and in the evening, rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky will make his first start as the Chicago Bears face the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field on "Monday Night Football."
