Early-Morning Fire Guts Palatine Township Home

A multiple-alarm fire destroyed a Palatine Township home early Friday morning.

PALATINE TOWNSHIP, IL — A multiple-alarm fire destroyed a Lake Cook Road home in unincorporated Palatine Township early Friday morning.

Palatine fire officials said that two residents who were home at the time escaped and were not injured. The fire started in the basement and there were no working fire detectors in the home, officials said.

The blaze broke out shortly after 2:40 a.m. and was so fierce that about 40 firefighters from Arlington Heights, Long Grove, Barrington Countryside, Prospect Heights and Lake Zurich were needed to battle it.

Damage estimates are pending, but the house is inhabitable, officials said. An investigation is underway.
