PALATINE, IL — In Palatine, celebrating the Fourth of July this year by enjoying a traditional fireworks display means being ready a day early. That's when pyrotechnics will light up the night sky at the 60th annual Hometown Fest.

And the Independence Day fun isn't limited to fireworks at Hometown Fest. The festival — which runs from June 30 to July 4 at Community Park, 262 E. Palatine Road — also features a carnival, food and live entertainment. Fireworks, though, are at 9 p.m. Monday, July 3. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest Palatine news.
