Letter to the Editor: Catherine Alice Gardens Proposal on Eric Drive
Letter to the Editor regarding to the proposed 33-unit apartment building at 345 Eric Drive. Opponents believe the location is not appropriate for a residential facility for people with disabilities.

Letter to the Editor submitted by Edward Brien.Â
Dear Editor,
I was one of those present at that meeting.
While I see a need for this housing, I oppose the location on Eric Street in Palatine.
The proposed area is not a safe area for unsupervised tenants who already have already have challenges with their world without asking them to navigate through a high-traffic industrial area.
This facility will be next to a very busy karate school that has children coming and going daily. It is a karate organization, but it is a school nonetheless. The front door of this high-density residence is only a few feet from the door of the dojo where hundreds of children, some as young as five, come every week.
I hope Palatine Village Council has the wisdom and the vision to say no to this location so that the builders can look elsewhere for a safe location.
Thank you for your time,
Edward Brien
