Lock Your Cars: Palatine Police Investigating Vehicle Burglaries

Where Palatine Police Department officials said the burglaries took place.

PALATINE, IL — The Palatine Police Department said they're investigating vehicle burglaries that were reported in four village areas Monday. According to police, burglars got inside unlocked vehicles parked in driveways in the overnight hours, taking several items including cash, I-Pass transponders, electronics, sunglasses, and garage door openers, which police said the burglars used to get into victims' garages and into their cars.

According to a release, police said the burglaries were reported near the following neighborhoods:

  • Quentin Road and Lakeview Drive
  • Chewink Court and North Benton Street
  • North Hale Street and East Colfax Street
  • Auburn Woods and West Northwest Highway.

Police said it's believed the reported burglaries are only a small percentage of vehicles that were entered into that night. Police also said vehicle thefts are one of the most preventable crimes, and offenders search for easy, unlocked targets.
