Old Videos Causing Worry At D211 High School No Threat: Principal
"There is no present safety threat to the school," Conant High School Principal Julie Nowak said in a message to parents Friday.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — A Township High School District 211 principal tried to allay parents' fears Friday morning after they expressed concern over possible threats to a Hoffman Estates high school in videos by a student. In a message to parents, James B. Conant High School Principal Julie Nowak said the footage, which resurfaced on social media following this week's deadly school shooting in Florida, didn't pose a threat to students, and the issue had been addressed after the student originally posted the videos to social media last year.
"I want to assure you that there is no present safety threat to the school surrounding these recent reports," Nowak wrote in her message. "We commend those who have come forth to express concerns and we have taken extensive steps to respond to this information."
The videos began "causing a significant disruption to the school" this week once they began receiving attention again, Nowak said. The school had immediately tackled worries over the videos when they first appeared in 2017, and she told the Daily Herald that the content of the footage was concerning but not threatening.
