Palatine Blotter: Retail theft, DUI, Speeding

Bailey N. Kiser, a 25-year-old woman of the 1100 block of Thorndale Lane, in Lake Zurich, was arrested at 2:31 a.m., in the 200 block of N. Smith Street on charges of DUI and no tail lights, police reported.
Eric D. Barzookis, an 18-year-old male of the 0-100 block of W. Fern Ct., was arrested at the True Value Hardware, 790 W. Euclid Avenue, on charges of retail theft, police reported. Police said a store employee stopped Barzookis after he passed the last point of sale with a can of automotive starter fluid concealed in his jacket pocket. The item was valued at just over $6.

February 8
An iPhone was taken from a 2007 Ford sedan between 1 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., while it was parked in the 400 block of N. Jonathan Drive, police reported. The iPhone was in a case containing a drivers license and a debit card. There were no signs of forced entry and the victim thought the car had been locked. The phone is valued at $600.

Dennis R. Barry, 58-year-old man of the 900 block of E. Villa Drive in Des Plaines, was arrested at 1:51 a.m., on s/b Rand Road on charges of felony DUI, Unlawful use of a revoked drivers permit, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, an equipment violation of one tail light and disobeying a traffic control device, police reported.
