Palatine High School Student Hit By Speeding Car Going Wrong Way In Reverse
The 23-year-old driver has a suspended license and faces felony charges in the accident.

PALATINE, IL — A Palatine High School student was hit by a car speeding in reverse the wrong way through a school crosswalk Wednesday by a driver with a suspended license, according to the Daily Herald. Gerson M. Aguilar-Torres, 23, of the 0-100 block of Dundee Quarter Drive, was charged with felony aggravated reckless driving and aggravated driving while license suspended. He also faces a charge violating his probation from a past driving-under-the-influence conviction, the report added.
The accident happened around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the high school's parking lot, the report stated. The student, 17, was in the one-way student drop-off area when she was hit by Aguilar-Torres, who was driving a 2007 Audi A4, the report added.
The student was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where she was treated for injuries to her head and legs and released, the report stated. Aguilar-Torres' bond was set at $125,000, and his next court date is scheduled for Nov. 3.
