Palatine Man Dies After Shooting Himself

PALATINE, IL — A 53-year-old Palatine man was found dead Monday morning shooting himself in an apparent suicide, according to authorities. The man in his 50's was pronounced dead early Monday morning the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

Police responded to a report of a man shooting himself in the 0-100 block of Fern Court on Monday morning, a department spokesman said. The man was discovered by first responders outside near his home, according to police.

Officers were still at the scene late morning, and the case was under investigation, police said. Although it hasn't been scheduled, an autopsy is expected to be done Tuesday, May 1, according to the medical examiner's office.
