Palatine Patriot Day Ceremony To Honor 9/11 Victims
The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Palatine Firefighters Memorial.
PALATINE, IL — The Village of Palatine will host a memorial ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 11 to honor those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. According to a release from the Palatine Fire Department, the ceremony will take place at the Palatine Firefighters Memorial located at the corner of N. Brockway and W. Slade Street in downtown Palatine. The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. with the arrival of the procession of Palatine Fire Department members and retirees, the Palatine Fire Department Honor Guard, and the Palatine Police Department Honor Guard.
The group will march to the memorial ceremony site from Fire Station 85 at 39 E. Colfax Street.
The memorial ceremony will last 20 minutes and will include members of the Palatine police and fire departments lowering the flag, placing a wreath at the memorial, and performing a ceremonial ringing of the bell to signify a firefighter's last call of duty, the release said.
