Palatine Police Department Chief Retires

The department said goodbye to Chief Stoeckel Monday, celebrating his nearly 34 years of service to the Village.

PALATINE, IL — The Palatine Police Department started the week congratulating Chief Alan Stoeckel on his retirement. The department said goodbye to Chief Stoeckel July 1, celebrating his nearly 34 years of service to the Village of Palatine, according to Palatine police.

The Village announced at the end of May they'd be appointing Deputy Chief Dave Daigle as the next Chief of Police for the Village. Daigle was promoted Tuesday following Chief Stoeckel's Monday retirement.

Stoeckel was promoted to Police Chief in 2014, patch reported.

Deputy Chief Daigle has been a member of the Palatine Police Department for 26 years, according to the Village.

“Chief Stoeckel has not only served the community in an exemplary manner for 34 years but he has prepared the next generation of leadership for the department," Village Manager Reid Ottesen said, in a release. "There are many men and women of the department that are ready to assume new roles thanks in large part to the mentoring and positive environment under Chief Stoeckel’s leadership.”

Community members have been thanking and congratulating Chief Stoeckel on his retirement, including leaders from the Palatine Gurdwara Sikh Religious Society, who the department said recently stopped by to share their well wishes.
