Palatine Police Share Results Of Labor Day Enforcement Campaign

Police issued over 100 citations and made several arrests during the Labor Day campaign, according to the Palatine Police Department.

PALATINE, IL — The Palatine Police Department's local efforts during the Labor Day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign from Aug. 16 through Sept. 3 resulted in over 100 citations and several arrests, the department announced in a release. During the campaign, Palatine police partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois and increased patrols in an effort to keep impaired drivers off our roads, the department said. A roadside safety check was also set up to make sure motorists were driving responsibly.

  • Seat belt: 67
  • Speeding: 15
  • Illegal use of cell phone while driving (distracted driving): 7
  • Backseat seat belt: 5
  • Uninsured motorists: 2
  • Other traffic related citations: 25

Arrests:

  • Suspended/revoked driver’s license: 4
  • Drug: 3
  • Misdemeanor: 1
  • Fugitive warrant: 1

Police ask anyone who witnesses erratic or impaired driving to please call 911, as preventing impaired driving is a matter of Life or Death.
