Palatine Rural Fire Dept. Grows Partnership with Marion Jordan School
The partnership between the Palatine Rural Fire Department and students at Marion Jordan School continues to grow in a community garden.

The Palatine Rural Fire Protection District and District #15 Marion Jordan School are beginning to reap the rewards of a partnership that began this past spring.Â
Principal Jenny Grosch, 5th/6th grade teacher Lindsey Harris, and Fire Chief Rich May spearheaded the community garden project. The Marion Jordan students, alongside District firefighters, prepared a 25 foot by 25 foot garden plot at the District’s fire station at the corner of Ela Road and Palatine Road.
Students and firefighters have been sharing the responsibilities of weeding, watering, and harvesting a variety of vegetables. Â The garden has produced cucumbers, squash, sweet peppers, carrots, broccoli and tomatoes. Â This fall, there should also be pumpkins ripe for the picking.
