Palatine Village Council: What's on the Agenda?
Traffic code amendments, a change in business ownership and trick-or-treat hours are some featured items on the Palatine Village Council agenda Monday.

The Palatine Village Council will hold a regular meeting Monday, August 12 and a number of items are on the agenda for consideration.
They include:
Palatine's Traffic Engineering Committee (TEC) is recommending traffic code amendments. The village council will consider approving the following:
- No left turn from northbound Rose Avenue onto Johnson Street on school days from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. and fro 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., for Stuart R. Paddock School, 225 W. Washington Street. Previously, student drop-offs and pick-ups have caused back-ups in the area.Â
- Motorists would have to stop at a proposed stop sign on eastbound Slayton Drive at Clark Drive across from Jane Addams School, 1020 E. Sayles Drive.Â
- Parking would be prohibited in either direction on Gardenia Lane from Old Hicks Road to 100 feet to the east. Congestion has been observed in the area when cars are parked on both sides of the street.Â
- Reduce the speed limit on Gardenia Lane from Old Hicks Road to Baldwin Road from 30 mph to 25 mph. Speeding has been observed in the area, and the TEC believes safety will be improved and police enforcement efforts strengthened as a result of the speed limit reduction.Â
Trick or Treat hours for Halloween 2013: The Palatine Police Department is recommending this year's trick or treat hours be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Halloween, which falls on a Thursday.Â
The Palatine Village Council meets at 7 p.m. at village hall, 200 E. Wood Street.Â
