Pedestrian Killed by Metra Train Near Palatine
An unidentified pedestrian was reportedly struck and killed Friday night by a Metra train near Palatine that was headed to Crystal Lake.

A pedestrian was reportedly struck and killed by a Metra train near Palatine Friday night, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The unidentified person was struck by outbound train No. 651 on the Union Pacific/Northwest Line about 6:50 p.m. near Baldwin Road, reported the Tribune.
The train left downtown Chicago at about 6 p.m., headed for Crystal Lake, when the pedestrian was struck between the Palatine and Barrington stations, reported the Daily Herald.

According to Metra's website, train No. 651, which was scheduled to arrive in Crystal Lake at 7:08 p.m. Friday, was operating 198 minutes behind schedule. Metra also reported that the train would not operate past Barrington Friday evening as a result of the incident.
