Schaumburg Driver Ticketed In Palatine Ambulance Crash

The man, 44, was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving without insurance in the accident last week.

PALATINE, IL — A Schaumburg driver was cited for causing a rollover accident when his van collided with a Palatine ambulance a week ago, according to the Daily Herald. The van's driver and two Palatine Fire Department paramedics were hurt in the crash June 22 near Palatine and Rohlwing roads.

According to Palatine police, the 44-year-old driver was ticketed for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving without insurance, the Herald reports. The van's driver was traveling northbound on Rohlwing Road at around 2 p.m. when it hit the ambulance, which was westbound on Palatine Road, police said. The collision caused the ambulance to roll on its side, while the van spun out, knocking over a nearby light pole. Two other vehicles received minor damage after the van hit the pole, police said.
