Several Cook County Students Named GeoBee State Competitors

These students from schools across Cook County will show off their world knowledge as state qualifiers in the GeoBee competition March 29.

COOK COUNTY, IL — Eight students from schools across Cook County will be competing for college scholarships and the chance to be crowned the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee Champion. The county's largest representation comes from Palatine-area students.

These students will be competing in the state-level competition March 29:

Palatine

  • Marion Jordan Elementary School: Rhea Makkuni, 6th grade
  • Quest Academy: Rohan Ganeshan, 7th grade
  • Walter Sundling Jr High School: Thomas Lu, 8th grade

The National Geographic GeoBee is an annual academic competition designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world. Students in grades four through eight from about 10,000 schools in the United States will compete this year for the national title
