Air Force Plane To Fly Over Romeoville Saturday For Vet's Funeral
Matthew Berszoner, a former Air Force and commercial pilot, died in a plane crash this month in Pennsylvania.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — An Air Force plane will fly "extremely low" over Romeoville Saturday for the funeral of a veteran who died in an airplane crash in Pennsylvania, the village announced. The flyover will coincide with the man's funeral at Resurrection Cemetery.
At about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, a KC-10 jet will fly over Romeoville, while 34-year-old Matthew Berszoner is being buried. Berszoner piloted the massive KC-10 plane on refueling missions for 16 years, including in deployments in the Middle East.
Berszoner and a 65-year-old Pennsylvania man died Sept. 18 after a home-built plane they were riding in crashed over the Pocono Mountains, some 90 miles north of Philadelphia, according to local media. A native of the western suburbs, Berszoner was living in Pennsylvania at the time of the incident.

"Matt loved all things aviation from an early age, spending time with computer flight simulators and the EAA Young Eagles flight program," the Village of Bolingbrook said in a Facebook post. "Matt was kind, intelligent, dedicated, and multi-talented and had a great sense of humor."
Berszoner will be buried at Resurrection Cemetery at 1 p.m. Saturday, with the flyover scheduled to start shortly after.
Those wishing to honor Berszoner's memory can make donations to the EAA Young Eagles program, or to a local veterans' program, the village of Bolingbook previously said.
