Hundreds Still Without Power, Romeoville Schools Closed Monday After Storms

According to the ComEd outage map, there are 784 customers affected by outages.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Hundreds of Romeoville ComEd customers remain without power as of Monday morning, after severe storms rolled through the area on Saturday.

According to the ComEd outage map, there are 784 customers affected by outages. Outages were mainly centered in areas off of Route 53, spanning from Romeoville High School and then north all the way to Normantown Road.

Romeoville High School and Irene King Elementary School will be closed on Monday due to persistent power issues caused by thunderstorms over the weekend, the District said. Students at all levels who are able to, should participate in eLearning.

Residents reported several trees knocked down, and power lines snapped after storms on Saturday. 135th Street was closed for most of the weekend as ComEd worked, but the street is reopened as of Monday morning.

The Village said that Public Works will be going around with the chipper this week to take care of downed branches. Put branches out by the curb and Public Works will come by on your garbage day to take them.

Those who are in need of a cooling shelter can head to the Police Station, at 1050 W. Romeo Road.
