ROMEOVILLE, IL — Visits and pictures with Santa Claus are treasured traditions for many Romeoville families. In and near Romeoville, kids have several chances to see jolly old St. Nick in person.

Here are the details:

  • Romeoville Holiday Lights Festival: Photos with Santa will be offered during the event on Dec. 6 and 7 at Village Hall. Bring your own camera, and pre-registration time slots are available for Romeoville residents only. There will be limited spaces available each day in the stand-by line.
  • Storytime with Santa at White Oak Library District-Romeoville branch. 10 to 11 a.m. on Dec. 19. Santa will read "Twilight: A Reindeer Story" by Adam Woodworth. Register with the library.
  • Pictures with Santa at K9s for Veterans at The Promenade Bolingbrook. The cost is a $10 donation. Photo times are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 7, Dec. 8, Dec. 15 and Dec. 21.
  • Hot Chocolate with Santa at Bolingbrook's Winter Walk. Dec. 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. behind Town Center, 375 W. Briarcliff Road. Visit with Santa, holiday displays open to the public, and holiday treats for sale.

  • Santa's Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops in The Promenade Bolingbrook. The festivities will run through Dec. 24 at the store, 709 Janes Ave. Reservations for free photos with Santa are now available, and dates will continue to open on a rolling basis seven days in advance. Visitors without reservations are welcome and will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the business.
