Tree Lighting Ceremony Kicks Off Shorewood's Holiday Market This Friday: Event Schedule Revealed Here

New this year is a holiday show. Rosie & The Rivets will take the stage Saturday from 5-7:30 p.m. to perform Jingle Bell Rocks.

SHOREWOOD, IL — The Village of Shorewood will host its annual Holiday Market at One Towne Center Blvd. on Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6. The Village invites the community to kick off the holiday season with a tree lighting ceremony, holiday shopping, and community gathering, all while surrounded by festive holiday lights.

The Shorewood Holiday Market features 20-plus local vendors selling a variety of goods, including handcrafted items, holiday merchandise, home décor, candles, jewelry, artwork, and clothing.

Shopping hours are 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, and 12-8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6. Shorewood’s commemorative Holiday Market mug will also be available for purchase at the ticket booth in the square. Other activities include:

  • Tree Lighting Ceremony: The annual ceremony kicks off the Holiday Market on Friday, Dec. 5, at 5 pm. Shorewood’s Christmas Tree, donated by Jewel-Osco, will remain lit in the evenings following the ceremony.
  • Festival of Trees: Head into Village Hall any time during the Holiday Market shopping hours to warm up and see the variety of trees decorated by Shorewood businesses, organizations, and agencies.
  • Winter Hayrack Rides: Available 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, and 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6.

Live Entertainment

The Minooka Community High School Madrigals perform after the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, to keep the tradition of ringing in the holidays at the market.

New this year is a live holiday show on Saturday, Dec. 6. Rosie & The Rivets will take the stage from 5-7:30 p.m. to perform their holiday show “Jingle Bell Rocks.”

Holiday Photo Opportunities

Which holiday character will headline your family Christmas card? Santa & Mrs. Claus are stopping by the Holiday Market on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Other character visits include:

  • Buddy the Elf: arrives Saturday, Dec. 6., from 3-5 p.m.
  • Rudolph: arrives Saturday, Dec. 6, from 5:30-7 p.m.
  • Frosty the Snowman, who will be making visits throughout the event.

The market will also have festive backdrops, a lit-up snow globe, and beautiful holiday lights to admire and take annual snapshots.
